Community Walk and Talk – Report and Gallery

Thanks to everyone who attended the hugely successful community walk last night. Given the rain forecast, we were happy to see a crowd of well over 100 people gather on Viking Field, looking out over the Blagrove Meadows development site.

After an introduction by the Save our Blagrove Countryside Chair, Ian Andrews, explaining how this unwanted development will destroy the rural feel on this side of Wokingham, the crowd made their way through Lesley Sears field and out onto Blagrove Lane and Doles Lane.

As if to emphasise what will be lost if this development goes ahead, a Roe Deer appeared in one of the meadows proposed for concreting over, within full view of everybody as we walked along Blagrove Lane.

Many were surprised at the development’s size and scale. The overwhelming feeling from everybody present is that we have to fight this destructive development and protect our countryside and our wildlife.

Many of the attendees signed up on the day of the campaign newsletter. If you haven’t done so yet, please go to our website, http://evendons-area.org.uk/ and register for the email newsletter to stay up to date with the campaign to stop this unwanted development.  From there, you can find links to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, as well as a link to donate.

If you missed this event and would like to participate in our next one – it’s going to be at 4:00 pm on Sunday 7th August 2022. Everyone is welcome!
